Find People and Companies

Who can access the directories?

The Community and Startup directories are open to the vetted MassChallenge community which includes:

  • Finalists, winners, and alumni
  • Confirmed mentors and judges
  • Partners
  • MassChallenge staff

Only these types of users who are authenticated with an active account may access the directories.

The Community Directory

Vetted members of the MassChallenge community are visible in the Community Directory. As a member of this community, you can find other entrepreneurs, mentors, and MassChallenge staff through a combination of searching and filtering.

Search

Start typing in the search bar to see instant results. Closely relevant matches will appear higher in the ranking and exact text matches will be highlighted in yellow. Searchable attributes include:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Bio
  • Industry
  • Title
  • Areas of expertise

Filters

Speed up browsing by filtering results using any combination of filters. Filters work in two ways:

Single or multiple options in one filter are inclusive. Select one or more options within any filter to see results that match any of the selected options. For example: select 'Alumni' from the quick filter at the top to see any user who is a MC Alum. Now add 'Mentor' to the option set and observe there are more results now than before. Thats because the results are displaying every use who is an Alumni or a Mentor. They might be either or both.

Multiple filters are exclusive. Select the 'Alumni' quick filter and then select 'Boston' from the Program filter dropdown. This will display users who participated in any Boston program and are an MC Alum. Try adding another program, 'Mexico', and see the results increase. This is because the results are displaying every user who is a Boston Alum and every user who is a Mexico Alum.

The office hours quick filter will only display users who share a common program with you (i.e. they are a mentor in Israel and you are a finalist in Israel) and have upcoming available office hours.

Profiles

In the results view, profile cards are displayed with relevant information based on your query. A snippet from user's bio (if they have provided one) will be displayed. If you search for a particular term that matches a user's bio, that section of the bio will be called out on the card.

Judges and partners do not appear in the Community Directory.

Click any user's name to view their full profile, contact information, and office hours if available. You can also see their affiliation with other companies as a team member or mentor if applicable.

Return to the directory results by using the back button or clicking Community Directory in the breadcrumbs above the profile.

Office Hours

You can reserve office hours directly from a person's profile. If you see a button that Schedule office hours, that is your indication this person has available office hours. Click to pick a date and time.

Use the left and right chevrons next to the month to navigate between each month. Dates with available times will have a circle around them. Click on a date to see available times and then click on a time to complete the reservation process. After you make the reservation you and the office hour holder will receive a confirmation email. To edit your reservation go to https://accelerate.masschallenge.org/officehours/.

Startup Directory

The startup directory displays all startups that are currently or have participated in a MassChallenge program, typically referred to as 'Finalists' and 'Alumni'. These companies many have additional designations as different types of winners: Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum, Sidecar, and In-kind. Startups from nearly every MassChallenge program are included in this directory, making it a rich resource in the global innovation community.

Partner organizations and startups that have never been accepted in a program will not appear in the Startup Directory.

Stealth mode startups will appear in the startup directory on Accelerate. This allows judges, mentors, partners, and other members of the MassChallenge global innovation community to discover, evaluate, and provide support for all startups. Stealth mode startups will not be displayed on the public-facing list of startups.

Search

Type a query in the search bar to see instant results. More relevant matches will appear higher in the ranking and exact text matches will be highlighted in yellow. Searchable attributes include:

  • Short pitch
  • Full elevator pitch
  • Company name
  • Primary industry
  • Startup status (Finalist, Winner, etc.)

Filter

Refine a search or the full list by using any combination of filters. As with the Community directory, filters work in two ways:

Single or multiple options in one filter are inclusive. Select one or more options within any filter to see results that match any of the selected options. For example: select 'High Tech - Internet & Web' from the Industry filter. Now add 'High Tech - Enterprise Software' to the option set and observe there are more results now than before. Thats because the results are displaying every startup that matches either of these industry categories. They might be either or both.

Multiple filters are exclusive. To narrow your search, combine options from multiple filters. Select 'High Tech - Internet & Web' from the Industry filter and then select 'Boston' from the Program filter dropdown and '2021' from the Year filter. This will display a very narrow set of companies: only those High Tech Internet & Web startups that were finalists in Boston in 2021.

If you find a search you like or want to share with someone else who has an account on Accelerate, just copy the URL with all of the query terms.

To clear the entire search, click the 'Clear filters' button to the right of the Startup Status filter.

Sometimes a startup has participated in more than one program in different capacities. This can cause unexpected results when using complicated filters, so it's a good idea to confirm the data by looking at the labels on the results card or the full startup profile.

Click on any of the startup names to view the full profile including the elevator pitch, video pitch (if available), team members, and social media links.
